In Spain there are basically three category
type of accommodations, hotels, pensiones and hostales.
Of course if you are looking for something more special
there are also Royal Class accommodations, privately
owned Palace Hotels and government owned Paradores.
The following is a description of each
category.
Parador
- This hotel type of acommodation is probably
the best way to enjoy your stay in Spain specially
if you are touring around with your own car or a rental.
They are usually less expensive than most 4 star hotels,
plus you get to sleep and enjoy the views of an attractive
and historic site. Most are rated 3 nad 4 star ......for

Hostal
- These tend to be an upgrade from pensiones and usually
family owned, some hostales are very nice and most
have private baths and a few have air-conditioning.
These type of establishments tend to have at least
one english speaking person. for more information

Pensiones
- Preferred by low budget travelers and students.
Generally a basic room , no-air conditioning, shared
or community bathroom, rooms are typically very small,
may have a sink but not necessarily a towel only accept
cash as payment. Most likely will not have any English
speaking person.
